Thread, Clay, and Memories

bee mix clay with free hand sgraffito decoration on top of hand made doily (scheme from Japanese magazine)

Crochet is what I am doing while resting... I got this passion from my mother who used to knit on her knitting machine and crocheting through the nights.  I still  remember her patiently crocheting little doilies with tiny metal hook, reading the schemes from German and Japanese magazine.
No wonder I have this love in my system too, and lately I have got into that Doilies- Mania as well, especially after I realized how beautiful it looks with my pottery decoration, and understanding its source...

amazing to find out how my sgraffito decoration rooted in my "crochet-memory"

Spring colors

sgraffito carving on white stoneware

these are all relatively large bowls and plates, this one is about 30cm diameter.

sgraffito, 38cm

this is the one i like best, its colors are amazingly emerge from one to the other in beautiful range of hues.
I am really happy with the results of this kiln.

It was such a pleasure to open the kiln and find all these pots shining out like gems
(not forgetting the way they were decorated with one broken finger)

they're all made of light brown clay,  decorated with colored slip, and were cut in sgraffito style.

These days, a new series of large bowls is getting its decoration, with new variations of 3 different
rainbow like hues, sgraffito as well.
